On January 29th, at 8:54 PM, a very tragic incident occurred above the capital city, Washington DC. American Airlines Flight 5342 from Kansas to Washington collided with a Black Hawk military helicopter. Both aircraft collided in the air bringing them both down into the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan National Airport.

The DC Fire Department rushed to the scene, searching for as many bodies as they could. After the DC Mass Casualty Task Force (dispatched during incidents with large amounts of casualties/ injuries) was dispatched, they realized they needed assistance from neighboring counties such as Montgomery, Arlington, Prince George’s, and many others. Several water rescue units were also dispatched to the scene. There were no survivors.
