MrBeast-- From YouTube's Most Loved, to Most Hated, by Parker P.

If you ask someone who MrBeast is, most people will know. For those who don’t know, Jimmy Donaldson, referred to as MrBeast, is a popular YouTube star, who has claimed to have helped many people in various ways. This includes buying cars for people, building houses, and other good deeds. Then, you may be asking yourself, why would he become hated? It all started in July of 2024 when allegations started making their way around the internet. 

Ava Kris Tyson, a long-time member of the MrBeast crew, was presumed to have done many inappropriate acts around July of 2024, with multiple minors, and even a former MrBeast member. But how did this hurt MrBeast? MrBeast stayed quiet about them until recently when he stated on Twitter:

“Over the last few days, I've become aware of the serious allegations of Ava Tyson's behavior online and I am disgusted and opposed to such unacceptable acts. During that time, I have been focused on hiring an independent third party to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure I have all the facts.” 

After those allegations were over with, it wasn’t long before even more allegations met the internet. MrBeast is currently being sued by members of his new game show, “Beast Games,” over reportedly denying food to a contestant, denial of pay, and other misogynistic and sexual acts. This case is being sorted out as this is being written. 

Fast forward to September, when Jimmy collaborated with two other popular YouTubers, KSI, and Logan Paul. The three collaborated to make the product, “Lunchly.” Lunchly is, what they call, a healthier alternative to the popular kid's lunch meal, Lunchables. Lunchly has less sugar, calories, and more protein than Lunchables. But, does that mean it’s healthy? No. It is still considered ultra-processed food. On top of that, if you look at the USDA standards, the recommended calories for a kid's lunch meal are around 550-850 calories. Neither Lunchables nor the, “Healthier Alternative,” meets the mark. Lunchables are around 300 calories, while Lunchly is around 230. And let's not forget the drink in the Lunchly, Prime, may have less calories and sugar, but it has more amounts of electrolytes. Electrolytes are good if you want to get energized, but that does not make it healthy. In fact, too much electrolytes is considered unhealthy. Reports have also stated there are many unhealthy and permanent chemicals such as Red Dye 40 which if you didn’t know, enough of this chemical may cause cancer.

Many people are mad at MrBeast, KSI, and Logan Paul because they believe that now, these three are just in it for the money. Famous Minecraft YouTuber, and early 2010s sensation, DanTDM, tweeted about the Lunchly incident, and said:

“What happened to YouTubers [sic] man… I can’t say anything anymore. This is selling stuff for the sake of making money, simple. How does this benefit their fans? This is selling crap to kids who don’t know better than to trust the people who are selling it to them. Do better.” And this is how MrBeast, once the most loved YouTuber, became disliked by many of his former fans.
